What is Gear Pump? What is the Advantage of it?

The gear pump is a rotary positive displacement pump, which relies on a pair of rotating gears to complete the pumping work. Its working volume is composed of the tooth tip and the inner wall of the pump casing. With the continuous rotation of the meshing gear, the working volume is expanded and contracted alternately, thus completing the task of sucking and pressing out the liquid.

Types of Gear Pump (according to the gear meshing mode):

3. herringbone gears.

The tooth shapes of gears include involute tooth shapes and cycloid tooth shapes. The former is widely used.

Gear pumps produce high pressure heads and are commonly used to transport liquids with high viscosity and no impurities, such as syrup, oil, etc.

Advantages: 1. Maintenance is simple

2. It handles an extensive range of viscosities

3. Output is controllable

4. Easy to construct

5.Cavitations are less sensitive

Disadvantages: 1. The liquid should be free of abrasives

2. Interlocking gears can also be loud
